ABOUT me
Hi!
Welcome and thank you for visiting my website.
Having spent my 20's serving as a Royal Marines Commando I gained a huge range of experience, learnt both on operations and overseas exercises and expeditions. Now, having traded in my coveted Green Beret my energy is now focused toward leading people through the mountains, Outdoor Education & Instruction, training and leading Expeditions both in the UK and internationally as an International Mountain Leader award holder.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have successfully rowed the Atlantic Ocean unsupported in a two-man Ocean rowing boat. I have served an operational tour of duty in a ground reconnaissance role whilst serving as a Royal Marines Commando, summited Mont Blanc on three occasions, run the 'Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc' and skied 330km cross-country within the Arctic Circle through Northern Norway. A passion for adventure and wild place has seen me kayak around the Lofoten archipelago in Norway, cycle tour northern Iceland, and summit Denali (6190m) in Alaska - the highest mountain in North America!
This site aims to capture my journey, serve as a professional platform and as a means to share with all those of you that have a passion for adventure, the outdoors and the natural environment.
Enjoy surfing!
Jonnie Miller | ALPINE AND Mountain Journeys
Jonnie Miller | Alpine and Mountain Journeys is rooted in a long-standing connection with the Alps and a belief that the best mountain experiences come from thoughtful pacing, sound judgement, and genuine care for place.
I spend most of my time guiding in alpine environments, where conditions, terrain, and weather demand attention and respect. My guiding style is calm and supportive, shaped by experience rather than urgency, and focused on helping people feel confident and capable in the mountains.
I work with adults of all ages and experience levels, guiding small groups on trekking journeys that balance challenge with enjoyment. Routes are chosen carefully, days are structured realistically, and decisions are always made with safety, learning, and the overall quality of the experience in mind.
Above all, my aim is to create alpine journeys that feel meaningful — not rushed or tick-box — allowing people to build confidence, understand the landscape around them, and come away with a deeper appreciation of mountain environments.
